Kyle Steiner
takes checkered Flag
at the SCOPE go cart night!!!!
SCOPE: 4/7/04
Thirty-three SCOPE members, friends and families took to the Dromo One
go cart track Wednesday night. It was great to see new faces and meet new
boat heads. Event coordinator Jeff Murray had all the entry forms ready
and the racing went off without a hitch.
There were four heat races, four semis and the main
event. The top point earners based on each heat made it to the final. One
thing became apparent immediately, the Steiner’s, Bill, son Kyle and
daughter Brielle were the ones to beat. Jeff Cheng posted some fast times
as did Rick Lemmon. When I say fast, times were in the low 27’s, pretty
good when the track record is the mid 25’s.
Jeff Murray somehow pulled off three heat wins but
turns out against all girls. Norton Alderson showed that with proper
blocking he could hold off anybody, until cash was put up by Wayne Lee and
Lu Lyall to “take him out”. Bill Bowen and Robert Bernard were all for
it.

Rick Dunn, Greg Rice, Greg Timmons, Ted Barnes and
Sean Clancy had some great heat races.
The “Do not bump” sign was out on display for the
first three laps of every race.
The girls were smoking hot tonight as Beth Lyall and
Debbie Helms took to the tack, but none could catch Brielle.
The final came down to the top nine points winners.
The racing was tight and Gary Fullmer lead the charge into the first turn
with Jeff Murray. Kyle passed them on the next lap and sister Brielle
going by next. Jeff Cheng, not to be taken for the king poodle he is,
mashed on the gas and blew past Fullmer, Murray and slammed his way past
Brielle.
The final results were:
Kyle, Cheng, Brielle, Gary, Jeff, Leason P, Daryl,
Cameron and Bill Steiner, who had a black flag for rough driving.
After the awards, it was off for a quick bit to eat
and a little bench racing.
Thanks to all who attended and Jeff Murray and Ron
Songrath for putting together the event. Songrath had to miss the races to
go shopping for a new baby stroller as wife Christen is due within the
next few weeks.
Take
care and hope you had a Happy Easter.
Wayne Lee, BOD
