THE FEVERISH PACE CONTINUES!!!!
SCOPE
season number ten is officially underway!!!! On Sunday afternoon
(March 24th), over 250 SCOPE members, families and friends showed up at Teague
Custom Marine in Valencia as Bob and Andrea Teague hosted the Annual
SCOPE kickoff party. Food, drinks, margarita's, live music, supercharged
big blocks and all sorts of fancy powerboat accessories were on the
menu for the day.
2001 was a year of great participation and the feverish pace continued
with the no-holds barred opening party at Teague's. The SCOPE
membership list grew by 23 families as we quickly approach member number
100 for the year. There were some awesome display's of intercoolers,
superchargers and centerpieces made
of anodized pulley's and multi colored sea strainers. Always having
the reputation of having the throttles against the fire-wall, Bob
continued the tradition by simply going "All out" for this SCOPE
event. Powerboat Magazine was also represented with editor Brett Becker
passing out free copies of the latest issue.
Besides the party, the hardware, and a busy registration table operated by
Karyn Vogt and Norton Alderson, there was a brief presentation by 2002
President Lucian Lyall. The new leader talked of an exciting
2002 calendar of events, including the upcoming Catalina lunch run on
April 13 and the exciting Dromo-One
go cart night on Thursday, April 18th in Orange (still a few spots
available). Lucian also presented 2001
SCOPE President Andrea Lee with a special recognition award for her
hard work and dedication to the club during the past year.

Another
hot topic discussed was the 2002 Poker Run to be held this August....with
only 175 guest slips available, this event is a guaranteed sell out and it
will be critical for members to register early....for the event and for
your rooms at the Hyatt Regency. Poker Run Director Wayne Lee
is determined to avoid late registrations this year for the run...so,
words of caution....
There
are severe late registration penalties
for those of you who wait until the last minute!!!!

Thank
you Teague Custom Marine! The Board of Directors wants to sincerely thank
all the SCOPE members and friends for kick starting the year with a great
turnout at this year's party and the Board wants to specially thank
hosts Bob and Andrea Teague for throwing out the red carpet and putting on
a special show for the club. We hope to see everyone at the
Catalina run on the 13th and at the go cart night on the 18th.
