SCOPE Concludes 2002 with its
Annual Christmas Dinner
With
King Poodle Jeffrey Cheng grabbing the reigns, the Annual SCOPE Christmas
Dinner was in full gallop Friday evening, December 6th at the Yardhouse
Restaurant in Long Beach. Over 90 of SCOPE's finest filled the Harbor Room
as the SCOPE throng celebrated another blockbuster year of friendship and
on the water fantasies. It was an odd sight to see so many of the clubs
members inside the Yardhouse while the often filled docks at the
waterfront were empty due to the cool nights breeze.

Special recognition was given to 2002 SCOPE President Lu
Lyall as he was presented a special award for his outstanding contribution
and dedication to the club and its members. During Lyall's second term as
President, the membership grew to an all time high of 126 members and the
events were well attended, capped off with a record breaking 159 boats at
the annual Poker Run.
Lyall has been instrumental in the continual marketing
of the club and with bringing advanced technology to the support system of
the club and its Board of Directors. Also recognized was the SCOPE Poker
Run Director Wayne Lee, whose dedication to the Poker Run each year has
lead industry experts to say that the SCOPE Poker Run is the most
organized, efficiently run poker run in the World, besides being the
largest open ocean poker run anywhere in the country. Lee announce that
next year's poker run will be held in Long Beach on May 29,30 and June 1
(the week following Memorial weekend). Like last year, Lee warned the
masses that next year's run will also be a sellout and that information
and literature concerning the run will be published by the time of the Los
Angeles boat show in early February.
SCOPE wishes to thank King Poodle Jeffrey Cheng for
organizing the Holiday festivities and the Board of Directors wishes all
of its members and guest a very safe and peaceful Holiday season.
